SHAPES Unlimited, Inc. is a full-service wholesale manufacturer and distributor of aluminum products. Powder coating is our standard finish across fence, gate, and handrail products: a dry finishing process where electrostatically charged powder particles are sprayed onto mill-finish aluminum, then cured in an oven to form a solid, continuous coating.
The result is a finish with roughly double the thickness and hardness of liquid acrylic or enamel paint. That added density is what gives powder coating its resistance to chips, scratches, fading, rust, and corrosion, holding up to weather and UV exposure far longer than traditional wet paint.
Because powder coating contains no solvents or VOCs, it’s also a more environmentally responsible finishing option, without any trade-off in durability.

Electrostatic Spray Application

What colors are available, and how long does a custom color match take?
Standard black, white, and bronze ship on our normal lead times since they’re stocked and ready. Custom colors and color matches are available for an upcharge, but require additional lead time for formulation and approval. Contact our customer service team with your target color and timeline so we can confirm feasibility and turnaround before you place your order.
How does powder coating hold up compared to wet paint over time?
Powder coating cures into a solid, continuous coating roughly double the thickness of liquid acrylic or enamel paint. That added density means better resistance to chipping, scratching, fading, rust, and corrosion, especially in fence and gate applications exposed to weather year-round. Wet paint finishes typically show wear years sooner under the same conditions.
Is powder coating available on all SHAPES products, or just fence and gates?
Powder coating is our standard finish across fence panels, gates, and handrails. If you’re ordering fabricated or custom components and want them finished before shipment, mention it during your quote request and we’ll confirm compatibility with your specific part and material.
Can I order unfinished aluminum and have it powder coated separately, or does it come finished?
Most SHAPES products ship already powder coated as part of our standard process. However mill finish is available at time of quote. If you have a specific finishing requirement outside our standard workflow, such as coating a component you’re supplying, contact our customer service team to discuss whether that fits within our production capabilities.
