What is a Permit Submittal?
A permit submittal is the packet of drawings and product documentation a contractor hands to the local building department to get a fence, gate or railing approved before installation. The building official is answering one question: does what you’re about to build meet the code for this property?
They can’t answer that from a product photo. They need dimensioned drawings showing exactly how the assembly goes together, the materials it’s made from, and — for pool barriers, guardrails and high-wind areas — evidence that the system performs to the standard the code cites.
Requirements vary by municipality, so the exact list changes. What doesn’t change is that most of it describes our product, not your job site. That’s the part SHAPES supplies.

Step 2:
Submit for Review (Optional)
If needed you may submit your shop drawings for review. Use the form below to tell us the product line, the jurisdiction reviewing, and upload your shop drawing for review.
Step 3:
Assemble Your Package.
Compile your product documentation, spec sheets, and applicable test reports into a single PDF, matched to your jurisdiction's request. Submit the entire package to the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
